Rexroth hydraulic piston pumps are available in swashplate and diagonal shaft versions depending on the tilting elements.
The swashplate type is that the swashplate has a tilt angle with respect to the rotary cylinder block, which causes the piston to reciprocate in the pump cylinder. The axes of the drive shaft and the cylinder block are identical. This kind of structure is simple and the rotating speed is high, but the working conditions are demanding. The contact part between the end of the plunger and the swash plate is often the weak link.
The swashplate axis of the skewed shaft type is identical to that of the drive shaft. It is the reciprocating motion of the plunger due to the inclination of the plunger block at an angle to the drive shaft. Flow regulation depends on the angle of oscillating piston cylinder, so it is also called oscillating cylinder type. Compared with swash plate type, it works reliably and has large flow rate, but its structure is complicated.
Compared with the hydraulic radial piston pump, the hydraulic axial piston pump has a higher discharge pressure. It can generally work in the range of 20 to 50 MPa with high efficiency. It has small radial size, compact structure, small volume and light weight. However, the structure is more complex than that of Hydraulic radial piston pump, which requires high processing and manufacturing requirements and is more expensive.
Hydraulic axial piston pumps are generally used in hydraulic transmission systems of machine tools, metallurgy, forging, mining and lifting machinery, especially in high-power hydraulic transmission systems. In order to improve efficiency, axial piston pumps generally consist of main parts such as cylinder block, oil distribution pan, piston and swash plate. There are several pistons in the cylinder block, and the pistons are arranged axially, i.e. the center line of the piston is parallel to the axis of the drive shaft, so it is called an axial piston pump.
It differs from reciprocating piston pumps in that the pistons not only reciprocate in the cylinder, but also rotate relative to the swash plate. The plunger contacts the swash plate with a spherical end. There are high and low pressure monthly grooves on the oil distribution pan. They are separated from each other by the partition wall to ensure a certain degree of sealing. They are respectively connected with the inlet and outlet of the pump.
